What is the name of Valve's official Dota 2 professional tournament circuit?

The story behind the answer

The name of Valve’s official Dota 2 professional tournament circuit was the Dota Pro Circuit.

Valve introduced the DPC in 2017 to make qualification for The International clearer and more predictable. Teams earned points through sanctioned Major tournaments and regional competitions, with the highest-ranked teams receiving direct invitations to The International.

The circuit changed format over time. Its first season used Majors and Minors, while later seasons featured Regional Leagues and Majors across regions including Western Europe, Eastern Europe, China, Southeast Asia, North America, and South America. The International was not itself part of the DPC; it was the season’s culminating championship.

A common mix-up is confusing the DPC with The International or the earlier Dota Major Championships. The Dota Major Championships preceded the DPC, while The International was the premier event that the circuit helped teams qualify for. Valve ended the DPC after the 2023 season.
