What is the name of the villain in 'Peter Pan'?

The story behind the answer

The villain in Peter Pan is Captain Hook.

Captain Hook is Peter Pan’s principal enemy in Disney’s 1953 animated film Peter Pan. He is the pirate captain of the Jolly Roger and commands a crew in Neverland, with Mr. Smee serving as his comic first mate. Hook’s rivalry with Peter is personal: Peter cut off his hand and fed it to a crocodile, which continues to pursue the pirate after swallowing a ticking clock.

Disney presents Hook as both dangerous and comical. He is vain, easily frightened and prone to theatrical outbursts, but he remains determined to defeat Peter and capture the Lost Boys. He plants a bomb in Peter’s hideout and repeatedly tries to outwit him, only to be chased by the crocodile at the film’s climax.

Smee is not the villain; he is Hook’s loyal but bumbling assistant. Wendy and Tinker Bell are also not villains, although Tinker Bell’s jealousy creates conflict. Captain Hook originated in J. M. Barrie’s 1904 play Peter Pan; or, the Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up, where he became Peter’s enduring archenemy.
