The final action in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One takes place aboard the Orient Express.
The film’s climactic train sequence follows a catastrophic derailment after Ethan Hunt and Grace fight to prevent a key from falling into enemy hands. The sequence combines on-location railway work, large-scale set construction, practical effects, and digital compositing.
The Orient Express is a historically famous international passenger-train service associated with routes between Western Europe and Constantinople, now Istanbul. In the film, the train setting provides a confined moving environment for the climax and links the characters’ pursuit to the broader intelligence conspiracy.
This should not be confused with the film’s opening submarine sequence, which takes place aboard the Sevastopol. The train is also not the setting of the motorcycle cliff jump, which occurs earlier in the story.
