The three-comet symbol used by the Paralympic movement is called the Agitos.
The Agitos consists of three curved shapes, traditionally colored red, blue and green, arranged around a central point. The name comes from a Latin expression meaning “I move,” reflecting the movement’s emphasis on action, determination and progress.
The symbol was introduced in 2003 and first used at the 2004 Athens Paralympics. It replaced an earlier emblem based on three Tae-Geuks, a Korean decorative symbol. The change gave the Paralympic movement a distinctive visual identity rather than one closely resembling the Olympic rings.
The Agitos is not the same as the Paralympic flame or the Games’ official logo for a particular edition. It is the enduring emblem of the wider Paralympic movement, while host cities may add their own designs and colors to event branding.
