Euryale is the surviving mortal Gorgon encountered in God of War II.
God of War II is a 2007 action-adventure video game developed by Santa Monica Studio. It adapts characters and settings from Greek mythology but changes many details for its fictional story. In the game, Euryale appears as a major enemy and uses a petrifying gaze, echoing the traditional Gorgon power most strongly associated with Medusa.
The game’s Euryale is not identical to the figure in ancient myth. Classical mythology generally describes Euryale as one of Medusa’s immortal sisters, while Medusa is the mortal Gorgon killed by Perseus. The video game reworks that family history to fit its own narrative.
This distinction matters because modern adaptations frequently redistribute Medusa’s traits among other Gorgons. The answer is therefore specific to the 2007 game, not to the standard Perseus myth.
