What is the name of the spacecraft that carried NASA astronauts on the first commercial crewed orbital flight?

The story behind the answer

Crew Dragon Endeavour carried NASA astronauts on the first commercial crewed orbital flight, SpaceX’s Demo-2 mission.

Demo-2 launched on May 30, 2020, carrying NASA astronauts Douglas Hurley and Robert Behnken from Kennedy Space Center in Florida to the International Space Station. The spacecraft was an operational Crew Dragon capsule, later named Endeavour by its crew in honor of earlier spacecraft and aircraft associated with their careers.

The flight was conducted under NASA’s Commercial Crew Program, which funded development of privately built spacecraft capable of transporting astronauts. Demo-2 was a test flight, but it was crewed and completed the full journey to the station and back to Earth.

Crew Dragon Endeavour is often mixed up with other Dragon capsules. Resilience flew Inspiration4, Endurance flew Crew-3 and later missions, and Freedom first flew Crew-4. Demo-2’s spacecraft was Endeavour.
