Grant’s is the Scottish whisky blend created by William Grant in 1898.
William Grant founded the Glenfiddich distillery in Dufftown in 1886. In 1898, after the collapse of the Pattison whisky firm disrupted the market, Grant introduced a blended Scotch whisky under his family name. The brand later became known as Grant’s Family Reserve and is now commonly styled Grant’s.
A blended Scotch combines malt whisky and grain whisky from more than one distillery. That differs from a single malt, which is made at one distillery from malted barley, and from a blended malt, which combines malt whiskies without grain whisky.
Grant’s is therefore connected historically to Glenfiddich but is not the same product. Glenfiddich is a single-malt brand, while Grant’s is a blended Scotch label with a separate style and production identity.
