The robotic assistant in the Command Center is Alpha 5. Usually called Alpha, he assists Zordon and helps coordinate the Rangers’ missions from the Command Center.
Alpha 5 is recognizable for his mechanical voice, expressive robotic movements, and repeated alarmed exclamation, “Aye-yi-yi-yi-yi!” He operates the Command Center’s systems, monitors threats, communicates with the Rangers, and helps maintain the technology that supports their missions.
In the series’ origin story, Zordon directs Alpha 5 to find five teenagers capable of defending Earth from Rita Repulsa. Alpha therefore plays an important part in assembling the original team, even though he is not himself a Power Ranger.
The name can cause confusion because the franchise later introduces other Alpha robots, including Alpha 6 in Power Rangers Turbo and Power Rangers in Space. Zordon is the team’s mentor, while Ninjor is a powerful ally connected with the Rangers’ ninja powers. Neither is the Command Center’s original robotic assistant.
