Sara Bellum is the Mayor of Townsville’s assistant in The Powerpuff Girls.
Bellum is portrayed as competent, calm, and highly capable, often handling the Mayor’s phone calls, paperwork, and practical decisions. Although the Mayor is the city’s official leader, many episodes imply that Bellum is the more organized and effective member of the municipal office.
Her face is almost never shown in the original series. The running visual joke presents her through partial views, silhouettes, or shots that stop above her shoulders, while other characters frequently comment on her intelligence and appearance.
The name Sara Bellum is a pun on cerebellum, a part of the brain. The character should not be confused with Ms. Keane, the girls’ teacher at Pokey Oaks Kindergarten.
