LEGO City is the theme centred on emergency services, transport, buildings and everyday urban life.
The LEGO City theme launched in 2005, replacing several earlier urban product groupings and bringing police, firefighters, construction crews, trains and civilian settings under one name. Its sets typically depict a fictional modern city rather than a single continuous story world.
Police and fire sets are among the best-known LEGO City products, but the theme also includes airports, harbours, farms, road vehicles, space missions and wilderness exploration. This broad subject range distinguishes it from narrower themes such as LEGO Friends or LEGO Ninjago.
A common mix-up is calling the theme LEGO Town. Town was an earlier LEGO product line used for city-style sets, while LEGO City is the current branded theme introduced in 2005.
