What is the name of the lead singer of the band Pantera?

The story behind the answer

Pantera’s lead singer is Phil Anselmo, the vocalist who helped define the band’s aggressive groove-metal era.

Born Philip Hansen Anselmo in New Orleans on June 30, 1968, Anselmo joined Pantera in 1986. He first appeared on the band’s album ‘Power Metal’ before contributing to the heavier style that emerged on ‘Cowboys from Hell’ in 1990 and ‘Vulgar Display of Power’ in 1992.

Anselmo’s forceful vocals and confrontational stage presence became central to Pantera’s identity. He also performed with projects including Down, Superjoint, and Philip H. Anselmo and the Illegals, and founded Housecore Records.

The wrong options are all Pantera members, which makes this question easy to mix up. Vinnie Paul and Dimebag Darrell were the band’s drummer and guitarist, while Rex Brown played bass. None was Pantera’s lead vocalist.
