Ark Encounter is the Kentucky theme park that opened in 2016 with a large Ark replica.
Ark Encounter is located near Williamstown, Kentucky, and is operated by Answers in Genesis, the organization also associated with the nearby Creation Museum. Its central attraction is a wooden Ark built according to the dimensions described in Genesis: 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide, and 30 cubits high.
The attraction opened to the public on July 7, 2016. Its exhibits present a young-Earth creationist interpretation of the biblical account and include displays about Noah’s family, animals, and the Flood. The park’s claims and interpretations are religious rather than conclusions accepted by mainstream geology, biology, or archaeology.
Ark Encounter is distinct from the Creation Museum, which opened in 2007 in Petersburg, Kentucky. Both are Christian attractions, but they are separate venues with different principal exhibits.
