Assassin's Creed Unity is set in Paris.
The game takes place during the French Revolution, beginning in 1789 and covering major events in Paris as political unrest, social conflict, and violence reshape the city. Players control Arno Dorian, a French Assassin drawn into the struggle after the death of his adoptive father.
Paris is represented through districts, landmarks, crowded streets, interiors, and famous sites associated with the revolution. The Notre-Dame Cathedral appears as a major location, although the game's historical reconstruction predates many later changes to the building.
Assassin's Creed Unity was released in 2014 for PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One. A frequent mix-up is naming Versailles, where the opening sequence begins; Versailles is important to the story, but Paris is the game's principal setting and city map.
