In Assassin's Creed Syndicate, the Templars control London.
The game is set in London during the Industrial Revolution, chiefly in 1868. Jacob and Evie Frye, twin Assassins, arrive in the city and build a gang called the Rooks while challenging the Templar-backed power structure. Their campaign moves through districts such as Westminster, the City of London, and Southwark.
London's industrial setting supports new gameplay features, including a grappling hook, horse-drawn carriages, and train-based travel. The story also includes historical figures such as Queen Victoria, Charles Dickens, and Alexander Graham Bell.
This setting is distinct from Paris in Assassin's Creed Unity and Boston and New York in Assassin's Creed III. Syndicate was developed by Ubisoft Quebec and released in 2015. Although Jacob is often treated as the main face of the game, Evie is an equally playable protagonist with her own missions and abilities.
