In the Quranic account, Noah is the prophet who builds the flood vessel. He is called Nūḥ in Arabic and appears in multiple Quranic passages, including a substantial account in Surah 11, Hūd. Islamic tradition treats Noah as a prophet who warns his people and obeys God's command to construct the Ark.
The Quranic narrative overlaps with Genesis in its central themes: divine warning, rejection by many people, rescue of believers, and destruction by flood. It also contains distinctive details, including a conversation involving one of Noah's sons, who refuses to board and is overwhelmed by the waters.
The Quran does not reproduce every detail found in Genesis. For example, the emphasis and sequence differ, and Islamic interpretations identify the vessel's landing place as Mount Judi. The name Noah is the standard English form, while Nūḥ is the Arabic transliteration used in discussions of the Quran.
