The fictional alter ego Beyoncé used for her 2008 double album was Sasha Fierce.
Beyoncé introduced Sasha Fierce as an onstage persona associated with performance confidence, glamour, and more assertive energy. The concept shaped her third studio album, I Am... Sasha Fierce, released in November 2008.
The album was structured as two discs. The “I Am...” disc focused more heavily on ballads and personal material, while the “Sasha Fierce” disc emphasized uptempo songs and performance-driven production. Its major singles included “If I Were a Boy,” “Halo,” “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It),” and “Diva.”
Beyoncé later said she no longer needed to separate herself from Sasha Fierce because she had grown into the confidence that the persona represented. The name is therefore not a separate recording artist or legal identity. It is also distinct from “Yoncé,” a nickname and artistic variation Beyoncé used in other songs and performances.
