The Disney princess in Aladdin is Jasmine. She is the daughter of the Sultan of Agrabah and the central female character in Disney’s 1992 animated film.
Jasmine begins the story frustrated by palace confinement and by a law requiring her to marry a prince. Rather than accept a politically arranged match, she wants to choose someone who values her as a person. Her independence leads her to leave the palace in disguise, where she meets Aladdin in the marketplace.
Jasmine was voiced by Linda Larkin, while Lea Salonga supplied her singing voice. The character was inspired in part by Princess Badroulbadour from the Aladdin story in One Thousand and One Nights, though Disney substantially reshaped her personality and story. She is often confused with Ariel, Belle or Cinderella because all four are Disney Princesses, but Ariel belongs to The Little Mermaid, Belle to Beauty and the Beast, and Cinderella to the film named for her.
