The dance music area at Glastonbury formerly known as the Dance Village is called Silver Hayes. It is one of the festival’s dedicated electronic-music zones, with several stages and spaces rather than a single tent or performance platform.
Dance music became increasingly important at Glastonbury during the 1990s. Orbital’s acclaimed 1994 performance helped demonstrate that rave and electronic acts could command a major festival audience, and Glastonbury introduced the Dance Village in 1997 as the scene expanded.
The Dance Village grew substantially in the 2000s, adding multiple tents and attractions. It was later renamed Silver Hayes, a name associated with the area’s location and identity within the festival site. Shangri-La, The Glade and Block9 are separate Glastonbury areas, which makes them common but incorrect alternatives.
