The ark-building protagonist in the 2014 film Noah is named Noah.
Noah is a 2014 biblical-inspired epic directed by Darren Aronofsky, with Russell Crowe in the title role. The film follows Noah after he receives visions of an approaching cataclysm and is commanded to build an ark to preserve life. Its cast includes Jennifer Connelly as Naameh, Emma Watson as Ila, Anthony Hopkins as Methuselah, and Ray Winstone as Tubal-cain.
The film draws on the Book of Genesis but also incorporates material from Jewish interpretive traditions, visual effects, and original dramatic inventions. Its version of the story includes the Watchers, supernatural beings who help with the construction, and a much more developed conflict among survivors than the biblical account provides.
The title character should not be confused with Methuselah, who is Noah’s grandfather in Genesis and a separate character in the film. The film’s central name remains the same as the biblical figure: Noah.
