What is the name of the ancient Mesopotamian flood survivor whose story appears in the Atrahasis Epic?

The story behind the answer

Atrahasis is the ancient Mesopotamian flood survivor whose story appears in the Atrahasis Epic.

The Atrahasis Epic, written in Akkadian, tells of the human Atrahasis being warned by the god Enki about a destructive flood. He builds a boat, preserves living creatures, and survives the catastrophe. The work is one of the important Mesopotamian flood traditions that predate or stand alongside later biblical flood literature.

Atrahasis is sometimes confused with Utnapishtim, the flood survivor in the Epic of Gilgamesh. The two figures are closely related in Mesopotamian literary tradition, and the Gilgamesh account incorporates material resembling the earlier Atrahasis story, but they belong to different narrative presentations.

The name is also written Atra-Hasis or Atram-Hasis in transliteration. These spelling variations refer to the same figure and reflect different scholarly conventions for representing Akkadian.
