The 2007 Dutch replica ship built by Johan Huibers is called Johan’s Ark. Huibers constructed it as a modern interpretation of Noah’s Ark, using the dimensions described in Genesis as inspiration rather than claiming to have found the ancient vessel.
The replica was built in Schagen in the Netherlands and became a public attraction. It was designed to illustrate the biblical story and included displays connected with animals and the Flood. Because the original biblical cubit has no universally fixed modern conversion, replica builders must choose practical measurements when translating the ancient dimensions.
Johan’s Ark is one of several modern Ark projects. It should not be confused with Ark Encounter in Kentucky, a separate full-size attraction opened in 2016, or with archaeological claims about remains on Mount Ararat. Those projects share inspiration from Genesis but are different structures with different purposes.
