What is the name of Spyro's dragonfly companion?
Answer
Sparx
Answer
Sparx
Spyro's dragonfly companion is named Sparx. He accompanies Spyro from the original Spyro the Dragon onward and is much more than a decorative sidekick.
Sparx functions as Spyro's health indicator. When Spyro takes damage, Sparx changes color to show how much protection remains: yellow indicates full health, while blue and green signal progressively lower health. If Sparx disappears after further damage, Spyro becomes vulnerable to losing a life.
The dragonfly also helps Spyro collect gems. After Spyro approaches or passes near a gem, Sparx can fly over and pick it up, making him useful during exploration as well as combat. Butterflies restore Sparx's health; Spyro can obtain them by defeating harmless creatures such as sheep.
Players sometimes confuse Sparx with names such as “Sparky” because of the character's bright appearance and his close association with Spyro. Sparx is the official name, and the spelling with an “x” is used across the original trilogy and later games. In some later Spyro titles, Sparx also receives playable sequences of his own.
