LEGO Technic is LEGO’s advanced construction line featuring gears, axles and functional mechanisms.
The line began in 1977 under the name Expert Builder in Europe and later adopted the LEGO Technic name. Its elements introduced more mechanical possibilities than ordinary LEGO bricks, including beams, pins, gears, steering systems, suspension and working engines.
Technic models commonly represent cars, trucks, motorcycles, construction equipment, aircraft and other machines. Many sets use instructions that demonstrate how mechanisms operate, so the finished model can often steer, move pistons or raise equipment.
LEGO Technic is different from LEGO Mindstorms. Mindstorms combines LEGO components with programmable electronics, while Technic primarily focuses on mechanical construction. Technic parts can also be used in other LEGO builds, making the line useful for builders interested in engineering and complex movement.
