What is the name of Fleetwood Mac's drummer?
Answer
Mick Fleetwood
Answer
Mick Fleetwood
Mick Fleetwood is Fleetwood Mac’s drummer. He is also a co-founder and the musician whose surname forms the first half of the band’s name.
Fleetwood began pursuing music in London as a teenager and played with John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers before joining guitarist Peter Green in forming Fleetwood Mac in 1967. John McVie soon joined the group, creating the “Fleetwood Mac” name from the pair’s surnames. Fleetwood remained a constant member through the band’s many lineup changes and musical eras.
His drumming is especially associated with the band’s distinctive rhythmic feel: spacious, forceful, and often built around strong tom-tom patterns rather than flashy soloing. He played on the classic albums Fleetwood Mac, Rumours, Tusk, and Tango in the Night, among many others. A common mix-up is confusing Fleetwood with John McVie, who is the band’s bassist, or Lindsey Buckingham and Peter Green, who are guitarists and vocalists. Fleetwood Mac was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.
