What is the name of Dragon's Den's United States adaptation?
Answer
Shark Tank
Answer
Shark Tank
Shark Tank is the United States adaptation of Dragon's Den.
Shark Tank premiered in the United States in 2009 on ABC. Like Dragon's Den, it features entrepreneurs presenting businesses to wealthy investors and negotiating potential deals in exchange for equity. The American programme uses “sharks” as its animal branding, while the British original uses “dragons.”
The two programmes share the same broad international format lineage, which ultimately traces back to the Japanese show Money Tigers. Their panels and broadcast histories are separate, however, and a deal accepted on one programme does not automatically apply to the other.
Viewers sometimes call Shark Tank the American version of “Dragons' Den” without distinguishing the title's spelling. In British usage, the programme is generally styled Dragon's Den, while the American series is officially titled Shark Tank.
