What is the name of Djokovic's coach for the majority of his career?

The story behind the answer

Marian Vajda was Novak Djokovic’s coach for the majority of his career. The Slovak coach first joined Djokovic’s team in 2006 and became the longest-running coaching presence in the Serbian’s professional life.

Vajda helped guide Djokovic through his rise from promising young player to world No. 1 and Grand Slam champion. Their partnership included Djokovic’s breakthrough 2008 Australian Open title, his extraordinary 2011 season, and much of his record-setting success across the four major tournaments.

The relationship was not completely continuous. Djokovic worked with Boris Becker from 2013 to 2016, and Goran Ivanišević later joined his coaching team. Vajda and Djokovic also had periods apart, including a split announced in 2022. Those prominent coaching chapters can make the answer seem less obvious, but Vajda remained the central coach across the largest span of Djokovic’s career and was associated with 20 Grand Slam titles during their partnership.
