What is the name of Disney's first theme park outside the United States?
Answer
Tokyo Disneyland
Answer
Tokyo Disneyland
Disney’s first theme park outside the United States was Tokyo Disneyland.
Tokyo Disneyland opened on April 15, 1983, in Urayasu, Chiba Prefecture, near Tokyo, Japan. It was the first Disney theme park built outside the United States and closely followed the design language of Disneyland in California and Magic Kingdom in Florida.
Unlike most Disney parks, Tokyo Disneyland is owned and operated by the Oriental Land Company under license from The Walt Disney Company. The resort later expanded with Tokyo DisneySea, which opened in 2001. Together, the two parks form Tokyo Disney Resort.
The other options came later: Disneyland Paris opened in 1992, Hong Kong Disneyland in 2005, and Shanghai Disneyland in 2016. Tokyo Disneyland is therefore the correct answer even though it is not directly owned by Disney. Its themed areas include World Bazaar, Adventureland, Westernland, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, Critter Country, and Toontown.
