Disney Fairies is Disney’s fairy-themed consumer-products franchise led by Tinker Bell.
The brand developed from Disney’s long-running use of Tinker Bell as a company symbol and character. It gave her a larger supporting cast and a setting of her own, allowing Disney to create merchandise and stories that did not depend on the plot of Peter Pan.
The franchise includes fairy characters associated with different talents and natural elements. Its products have included dolls, plush toys, books, clothing, games, stationery, and themed accessories. Animated films and other media expanded the characters’ identities and helped support the merchandise program.
Disney Fairies and Disney Princess are separate franchises, even though both have been marketed toward similar audiences. Tinker Bell’s connection to Peter Pan remains part of her history, but Disney Fairies presents her within the independent world of Pixie Hollow.
