What is the name of Disney’s collectible figure line based on blind-box vinyl figures?

The story behind the answer

Disney Tsum Tsum is the collectible figure line based on small, rounded character figures sold in mystery packaging.

The name comes from the Japanese verb tsum, meaning “to stack.” The designs are deliberately horizontal and cylindrical, allowing figures to be placed one on top of another. Disney adapted the concept into plush toys, mobile games, stationery, and other merchandise.

Tsum Tsum products first became especially prominent in Japan before expanding internationally. Blind-box releases encouraged collecting because buyers did not know which character they had purchased until opening the package.

Disney Vinylmation is a different collectible line with stylized vinyl figures shaped like Mickey Mouse. Although both lines are Disney collectibles, Tsum Tsum is identified by its stackable, pillow-like form.
