Beyoncé’s philanthropic initiative launched in 2013 is called BeyGOOD.
BeyGOOD was established by Beyoncé to support charitable causes and community projects. Its work has included education, disaster relief, housing support, racial-justice efforts, small-business assistance and emergency aid. The initiative has worked with nonprofit organizations and other partners rather than operating only as a traditional standalone charity.
BeyGOOD became particularly visible during the 2014 water crisis in Flint, Michigan, when it supported relief efforts, and during later programs focused on Black-owned small businesses. In 2020, the initiative also helped provide personal protective equipment and other assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The capitalization is usually written as BeyGOOD, combining Beyoncé’s name with the word “good.” It is sometimes confused with the singer’s earlier Survivor Foundation work, which she created with Destiny’s Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams after the September 11 attacks.
