Cowboy Carter is the country-music persona and title associated with Beyoncé’s 2024 album.
Beyoncé introduced the Cowboy Carter era through a country-focused musical direction that followed her earlier album Renaissance. The title deliberately evokes a Western character while also connecting to her family name, Carter, through her marriage to Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter.
Cowboy Carter is officially styled as an album title rather than merely a nickname. Beyoncé described the project as a continuation of her three-act project, and its songs engage with country traditions, Black contributions to the genre, and the boundaries of musical categories.
Sasha Fierce is a different persona, associated especially with the 2008 album I Am... Sasha Fierce. Yoncé is a shortened form of Beyoncé, not the title character linked to Cowboy Carter.
