Cowboy Carter is Beyoncé’s 2024 studio album centered on country and Americana influences.
Beyoncé released Cowboy Carter on March 29, 2024, through Parkwood Entertainment and Columbia Records. It is her eighth studio album and the second act in a planned trilogy that began with Renaissance. The album explores country, western, folk, rock, blues, and other American musical traditions rather than fitting into only one genre.
Its tracks include “Texas Hold ’Em,” “16 Carriages,” “Jolene,” and “Ya Ya.” “Texas Hold ’Em” became Beyoncé’s first number-one single on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and helped make her the first Black woman to top that chart. The album also includes appearances by artists such as Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Miley Cyrus, and Linda Martell.
The title is not simply a reference to a character or tour. Beyoncé described the project as a response to experiences in country music spaces and as an exploration of the history of Black musicians in American roots music. Cowboy Carter is distinct from Renaissance, its dance-oriented predecessor.
