Beyoncé’s 2022 studio album that began a planned trilogy was Renaissance. It was released on July 29, 2022, as her seventh solo studio album.
Renaissance draws heavily on house, disco, dance, funk, and other club-oriented traditions. Its lead single, “Break My Soul,” became Beyoncé’s eighth solo number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100. The album also includes “Cuff It,” “Alien Superstar,” and “Virgo’s Groove,” each contributing to its dance-focused sound.
The project was described as the first act of a three-part project. Its follow-up, Cowboy Carter, arrived in 2024 and explored country, Americana, blues, and related traditions. Renaissance received the Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Music Album at the 2023 ceremony. It should not be confused with Lemonade, Beyoncé’s 2016 visual album, or Everything Is Love, her 2018 collaborative album with Jay-Z as The Carters.
