Renaissance is Beyoncé’s 2022 studio album inspired by house and dance music.
Released on July 29, 2022, Renaissance is Beyoncé’s seventh studio album and the first act of her planned three-part project. Its sound draws from house, disco, dance-pop, funk, and Black queer club traditions. The album’s credits and samples connect it to a long history of dance music and club culture.
The lead single, “Break My Soul,” became Beyoncé’s first solo Billboard Hot 100 number-one song since “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” in 2008. Other tracks include “Alien Superstar,” “Cuff It,” and “Virgo’s Groove.”
Renaissance received nine Grammy nominations and won four awards at the 65th ceremony. It is distinct from Cowboy Carter, Beyoncé’s 2024 album, and from The Gift, her 2019 album connected with The Lion King.
