Beyoncé’s 2019 documentary film about her Coachella performance is Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé.
The Netflix film documents the preparation and staging of Beyoncé’s 2018 performances at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Those concerts became known as “Beychella” and featured a large marching-band-inspired production, extensive choreography, and appearances by former Destiny’s Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.
Homecoming combines concert footage with rehearsal scenes and personal reflections. Its title refers both to the homecoming theme used in the show and to Beyoncé’s connection with historically Black colleges and universities, whose marching-band traditions influenced the production.
The film is distinct from Beyoncé’s other visual projects. Life Is but a Dream is a 2013 documentary, Black Is King is a 2020 visual album film, and Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé documents a later concert tour.
