Beyoncé’s 2008 alter ego for the I Am... Sasha Fierce album was Sasha Fierce.
The double album I Am... Sasha Fierce was released on November 12, 2008. Its two discs presented contrasting sides of Beyoncé’s artistic identity: the I Am... disc emphasized more personal ballads, while the Sasha Fierce disc focused on bolder performance-oriented songs.
Beyoncé described Sasha Fierce as a stage persona that helped her become more fearless during performances. The concept became closely associated with tracks such as “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” and “Diva.”
The alter ego is not the same as Honey Bee, the character Beyoncé played in Lady Gaga’s “Telephone” video. It is also distinct from the shortened nickname “Yoncé,” which Beyoncé used in later music and lyrics. The album earned five Grammy Awards in 2010.
