AC/DC's 1995 album featuring “Hard as a Rock” is Ballbreaker. It was the band's thirteenth studio album and was released on 25 September 1995 through Albert and East West Records.
The album marked the return of drummer Phil Rudd, who had played with AC/DC from 1975 until 1983. Rudd replaced Chris Slade, who had performed on the band's previous studio album, The Razors Edge. Ballbreaker was recorded at Ocean Way Studios in Los Angeles, with Rick Rubin producing and Mike Fraser handling recording, engineering and mixing duties.
“Hard as a Rock” was Ballbreaker's first single. Its music video became especially memorable for its exaggerated industrial imagery, including Angus Young playing guitar while riding a wrecking ball. The song reached number one on the US Album Rock Tracks chart. Listeners sometimes confuse Ballbreaker with Stiff Upper Lip because both are 1990s AC/DC albums, but Stiff Upper Lip was released in 2000 and does not contain “Hard as a Rock.”
