What is the men’s net height in Paralympic sitting volleyball?

The story behind the answer

The men’s net height in Paralympic sitting volleyball is 1.15 metres.

Sitting volleyball is played on a smaller court with a lower net than standing volleyball. Players must keep part of their torso in contact with the floor when playing the ball, although brief lifting is allowed in some actions such as blocking or defensive movement under the rules.

The women’s net is lower, at 1.05 metres. This difference is one reason a question must specify the division. The standard indoor volleyball net heights used in Olympic volleyball are much higher: 2.43 metres for men and 2.24 metres for women.

Sitting volleyball became a Paralympic sport at Arnhem 1980. The sport combines rapid movement across the floor with volleyball skills such as serving, setting, attacking and blocking, making the low net central to its distinctive style.
