What is the height of the Shanghai Tower in meters?

The story behind the answer

The Shanghai Tower is 632 meters tall. That figure is its architectural height, the standard skyscraper measurement that includes the building’s spire or other architectural elements but excludes ordinary antenna masts.

Located in Lujiazui, Pudong, the tower rises 128 stories and is the tallest of Shanghai’s famous three adjacent supertalls. The other two are the Jin Mao Tower and the Shanghai World Financial Center. Construction began in 2008, the tower topped out in August 2013, and it opened for public use in 2015.

Its twisting glass exterior rotates as it rises, reducing wind loads and allowing a second skin to form naturally around the inner tower. The building is divided into nine vertical zones containing offices, retail, hotels and public spaces. A common mix-up is confusing the 632-meter architectural height with the roof height, which is about 587 meters, or with the observation deck, located much lower.
