What is the height of the Petronas Towers in meters?

The story behind the answer

The Petronas Towers are 451.9 meters tall. This figure measures the twin towers to the tops of their distinctive pinnacles, making them among the most recognizable skyscrapers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Designed by Argentine-American architect César Pelli, the complex contains two 88-storey towers linked by a double-decker skybridge. Islamic geometric forms strongly influenced the floor plans and decorative design, reflecting Malaysia’s cultural identity.

The towers were completed in the 1990s and officially opened in 1999. From 1998 to 2004, they held the title of the world’s tallest buildings, before Taipei 101 surpassed them. Their height is often confused with the roof height, which is lower at about 405.1 meters.

They remain the world’s tallest twin skyscrapers. A later Kuala Lumpur landmark, Merdeka 118, surpassed them as Malaysia’s tallest building in 2021, but not as a pair of matching towers.
