What is Spyro's gliding move called?

The story behind the answer

Spyro’s gliding move is called Glide.

Glide lets Spyro travel forward through the air after jumping from a height. It is one of his defining movement abilities and turns the game’s large 3D stages into spaces built around routes, shortcuts, distant platforms, and hidden collectibles. The player activates it while airborne, using Spyro’s wings to extend a jump rather than simply falling.

Glide is easy to confuse with Charge, Flame, or Headbash, but those are separate abilities or attacks. Charge is Spyro’s fast ground movement and can defeat certain armored enemies; Flame is his fire-breath attack; and Headbash is associated with later gameplay and particular obstacles. In the first game, mastering glide is essential for reaching treasure, dragon platforms, and areas that appear inaccessible from ground level.
