Noah is called Nuh in the Quran and Islamic tradition.
Nuh is one of the prophets named in the Quran. Islamic accounts describe him as preaching monotheism to his people for a long period and warning them about divine punishment. The Quran recounts the construction of the ship and the Flood in several passages, including Surah Hud and Surah al-Mu’minun.
The Islamic narrative overlaps with Genesis in its central themes of warning, a vessel, judgment, and the survival of believers. It also differs in emphasis and detail. The Quran says that one of Nuh’s sons refuses to board and is overwhelmed by the flood, a detail not presented in the same way in Genesis. Islamic tradition also treats Nuh as a major prophet, not only as the builder of a vessel.
The names Hud, Salih, and Lut belong to other Quranic prophetic figures. They are sometimes confused with Nuh in broad lists of prophets, but they are separate characters. “Nuh” is the standard Arabic form of Noah’s name.
