I Am... Sasha Fierce was released in November 2008 as Beyoncé’s third solo studio album. It was structured as a double album, with the two discs presenting contrasting sides of her artistic identity. Singles from the project included “If I Were a Boy,” “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It),” and “Halo.”
The name is sometimes confused with a separate character or film role, but Sasha Fierce was Beyoncé’s own stage persona. She later said she had retired the alter ego, explaining that she no longer needed to separate the performer from herself.
