What is Aang's main airbending weapon and flying tool?

Aang’s main airbending weapon and flying tool is his glider staff.

The device folds into a staff for carrying and combat, then opens into a compact glider. Aang uses airbending to generate and control the currents that keep him aloft, so the staff is not a powered aircraft or a magical weapon operating by itself. It gives him mobility, aerial height and another way to direct air attacks.

The staff also reflects Air Nomad traditions. With its wings folded, Aang can use it like a quarterstaff or as an aid for bending techniques. Air Nomads were generally pacifistic, so the object is better understood as a multipurpose training and travel tool than as a weapon designed primarily for killing.

Aang’s original staff is damaged and later replaced by a more advanced version made by the Mechanist and his son Teo. The replacement includes a memorable candy compartment. Appa is Aang’s primary long-distance transportation, but the glider staff is his signature personal tool for flight and airbending.
