What did Noah build after leaving the Ark?
Answer
An altar
Answer
An altar
After leaving the Ark, Noah built an altar.
Genesis 8:20 says that Noah built an altar to the Lord after the floodwaters had receded and he, his family, and the animals had left the ark. He then took some clean animals and clean birds and presented burnt offerings.
This is the first altar explicitly associated with Noah in Genesis. The scene marks a transition from survival inside the ark to worship on the restored earth, immediately before the covenant and rainbow passage in Genesis 9.
The altar is not the same thing as the ark’s structure or a place where Noah lived after the flood. Genesis says Noah built it after disembarking, but it does not identify its precise location or give architectural measurements.
