What color is the Ranger who pilots the Dragonzord?

The Ranger who pilots the Dragonzord is the Green Ranger, Tommy Oliver. The Dragonzord is Tommy’s signature giant robot in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, summoned with the Dragon Dagger and originally powered by the Green Power Coin.

Tommy begins the series as Rita Repulsa’s enemy-controlled Green Ranger. After breaking free of her spell, he joins Jason, Zack, Billy, Trini, and Kimberly, bringing the Dragonzord onto the Rangers’ side. The machine can fight independently, combine with the Mastodon, Triceratops, and Sabertooth Tiger Dinozords in Dragonzord Battle Mode, or merge with the other Dinozords to form the Dragonzord-led Mega Dragonzord.

A common mix-up is that Jason briefly controls the Dragonzord when Tommy is absent, but that does not change its usual association or primary pilot. Tommy later becomes the White Ranger and pilots the White Tigerzord, so the Dragonzord is specifically linked to his earlier Green Ranger identity. The character was played by Jason David Frank, whose Green Ranger became one of the franchise’s most recognizable figures.
