What city serves as the capital of the Seven Kingdoms in Game of Thrones?

The story behind the answer

What city serves as the capital of the Seven Kingdoms in Game of Thrones? King’s Landing serves as the capital of the Seven Kingdoms in Game of Thrones. Located on the east coast of Westeros beside the Blackwater Rush, it is the seat of royal government and the location of the Iron Throne for most of the series.

The city was founded by Aegon the Conqueror after he landed there during his conquest of Westeros. Aegon built the Red Keep on Aegon’s Hill, while the city grew around the landing site and became the political center of the unified realm. The capital is surrounded by defensive walls and includes landmarks such as the Great Sept of Baelor and Flea Bottom.

King’s Landing is easy to confuse with other important cities. Braavos is a powerful Free City across the Narrow Sea, Meereen is a major city in Slaver’s Bay, and Oldtown is the center of learning and the seat of House Hightower. None of those cities serves as the royal capital of the Seven Kingdoms.
