What city is listed as Fleetwood Mac's origin?
Answer
London
Answer
London
Fleetwood Mac’s listed city of origin is London, England. The band formed there in 1967 around guitarist Peter Green, drummer Mick Fleetwood, and bassist John McVie.
The name came from an instrumental recorded by Green, Fleetwood, and McVie before the group fully took shape. Green combined Fleetwood’s surname with “Mac,” a shortened form of McVie’s name. The band’s early identity was rooted in the British blues scene, even though later lineups and music became strongly British-American.
Fleetwood Mac made its debut at the National Jazz and Blues Festival in Windsor on August 13, 1967. The group later became internationally famous after the arrivals of Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks in 1974, but that later Los Angeles connection does not change its original formation city. Birmingham, Liverpool, and Manchester are important British music cities, but none is the band’s listed origin.
