Halo: Campaign Evolved commemorates the 25th anniversary of Halo and Xbox. More precisely, its anniversary framing centers on Halo: Combat Evolved, the original game that launched the series on the first Xbox in 2001.
The remake revisits the campaign in which Master Chief and Cortana crash-land on the mysterious ringworld Alpha Halo. Halo Studios describes Campaign Evolved as a ground-up remake, with rebuilt visuals, expanded gameplay, new missions, and modern cooperative features. Its 2026 release aligns with the quarter-century milestone.
A common mix-up is treating the anniversary as belonging only to the Xbox console or to the entire Halo franchise. The celebrated landmark is specifically 25 years of Halo: Combat Evolved and the original Halo era. The game also preserves the central conflict among the UNSC, the Covenant, and the Flood while presenting the story for newer players.
