James Bond uses the alias Sir Hilary Bray while impersonating him in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.
Bond adopts the identity of Sir Hilary Bray, a herald and genealogist associated with the College of Arms. The disguise allows him to infiltrate Blofeld’s mountain retreat in Switzerland, where Blofeld claims to be pursuing a noble title and treats a group of women as patients.
The alias is central to the film’s espionage setup because Bond must maintain a detailed cover story rather than simply entering the facility as an armed agent. He studies Bray’s manner and background before travelling to the clinic, creating one of the series’ more elaborate undercover missions.
George Lazenby played Bond in this 1969 film, his only official appearance as 007. The movie also stars Diana Rigg as Tracy Draco and Telly Savalas as Ernst Stavro Blofeld. Its title is adapted from Ian Fleming’s 1963 novel.
